A solution of 11.56 g of the product of Step A in 200 ml of toluene was added over 15 minutes to a suspension of 11.45 g of phosphorus pentachloride in 25 ml of toluene and after gas evolution ceased, the mixture was refluxed for 11/2 hours and was evaporated to dryness to obtain 12.4 g of N-(2-trifluoromethylphenyl)-2-methyl-propanimidoyl chloride as a yellow oil which was used as is for the next step.
