Reaction Steps
14.1 g (0.075 mole) of N-(dimethylaminopropyl)-carbamic acid propylester are dissolved in 200 ml of ether. While stirring, 9.15 g (0.075 mole) of benzoic acid in 30 ml of tetrahydrofurane are added in drops. Agitation is continued for 2 hours, the solvent is distilled, and the oil dried in vacuum. One obtains 23.1 g (99.4% of the theory) of nD20 = 1.5070.
