In 200 ml. of anhydrous tetrahydrofuran was suspended 1.4 g. of lithium aluminum hydride and after adding thereto slowly a solution prepared by dissolving 5.8 g. of 2-(7-indenyloxymethyl)-4-methylmorpholin-5-one in 30 ml. of tetrahydrofuran, the mixture was treated in a similar manner as in Example 1 to provide 2.1 g. (yield 38%) of oily 2-(7-indenyloxymethyl)-4-methylmorpholine.
