[11-(3-Dimethylaminopropylcarbamoyl)undecyl]carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (4) (0.087 g, 0.22 mmol) was treated with HCl (4 M in dioxane, 2 mL, 8 mmol) and the mixture stirred at room temperature for 14 hours. The reaction was then concentrated in vacuo and further dried under high vacuum. The resulting white solid (0.081 g, 99%) was used directly without further purification. m/z (ESI) 300 [C17H37N3O+H]+.
