4-(12-tert-Butoxycarbonylaminododecanoyl)piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (10) (464 mg, 0.96 mmol) was treated with HCl (4 M in dioxane, 8 mL, 32 mmol) at room temperature for 14 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo and further dried under high vacuum. The white solid (342 mg, 99%) was used directly without further purification: m/z ESI 284 [C16H33N3O+H]+.
