Procedure
3-Nitro-benzene-1,2-diamine (0.153 g, 1.0 mmol), 4-Iodo-2-methoxy-pyridine-3-carbaldehyde (0.263 g, 1.0 mmol) and sulfur (0.032 g, 1.0 mmol) were heated at 160° for 60 min. The resulting slurry was purred on ice water (100 ml). Precipitates were collected by filtration and dried in vacuum to yield the desired product (0.40 g, quant.) which was used without any further purification.
