Procedure

A solution of 63 (0.023 g, 0.032 mmol) in methanol (1 ml) was stirred in presence of ammonium formate (0.089 g) and 10% Pd/C (0.023 g), under H2, at room temperature for 2 days. The solution was then filtered through a celite bed and the solvent removed under reduced pressure to afford ester 64 (0.014 g, 0.0230 mmol, 70%) as yellow solid, which was used in the next step without further purification.
