A solution of (S)-3-[2-[2-(benzyloxy)ethoxy]acetyl]amino-1-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)pyrrolidine (25 g) prepared in Step B in ethanol (150 ml) was added with 10% palladium/carbon (2.5 g, Merck), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours under a hydrogen atmosphere. The atmosphere in the reaction vessel was replaced with nitrogen gas, then the insoluble solids were removed by filtration through Celite, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound.
