Procedure
To a solution of 5-Bromo-2-methyl-pyridine (1.00 g, 5.80 mmol) in chloroform (10 mL) was slowly added 3-Chloro-benzenecarboperoxoic acid (1.004 g, 6.98 mmol) at 0° C. Stirring continued for 2 hrs at room temperature and the mixture was diluted with chloroform, washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate and water, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated to afford the title compound (1.14 g, 100%) as a yellow solid. 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3): δ 8.46 (s, 1H), 7.36 (d, 1H), 7.17 (d, 1H), 2.49 (s, 3H).
