Procedure

To a solution of [(S)-1-(1-cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)ethyl]carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (414 mg, 1.3 mmol) in DCM (7 mL) was added TFA (3 mL) and the mixture stirred at RT for 1 h. The volatiles were removed in vacuo and the resulting residue partitioned between DCM and a saturated aqueous solution of NaHCO3. The two phase system was stirred for 10 min and then the organic layer was dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo. The resulting residue was purified by column chromatography (Si—PCC, gradient 0-10% MeOH in DCM) to afford the title compound as a yellow oil (166 mg, 58%). LCMS (Method C): RT 1.66 min [M+H]+ 220.1.
