Procedure
(+-)-trans-3-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenoxymethyl)-1-pentyl-4-(4-pentyloxyphenyl)piperidine hydrochloride was prepared by refluxing 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenoxymethyl)piperidine hydrochloride (0.35 g) with 1-bromopentane (1.8 ml) and K2CO3 (1 g) in abs. ethanol (25 ml) for 2 h. The rinse-up procedure described in example 1 gave the title compound. M.p. 148.2° C.
