Reaction Steps

Using a similar procedure to that described in Example 3, (2SR,4SR)-2-ethyl-4-hydroxy-4-[3-(4-tert-butylphenylthio)phenyl]tetrahydropyran was reacted with methyl iodide to give (2SR,4SR)-2-ethyl-4-methoxy-4-[3-(4-tert-butylphenylthio)phenyl]tetrahydropyran in 57% yield as an oil.
