To a solution of methyl 2-chlorobenzoxazole-4-carboxylate (100 mg, 0.47 mmol) in THF (6 mL) was added a solution of lithium hydroxide monohydrate (29.7 mg, 0.71 mmol) in H2O (3 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 h and then concentrated to dryness to afford lithium 2-oxo-2,3-dihydrobenzoxazole-4-carboxylate (130 mg, 100%) as a yellow solid that was directly used in the next step without purification.
