To a solution of 100 mg of [(1-Chloro-4-hydroxy-isoquinoline-3-carbonyl)-amino]-acetic acid, (U.S. Pat. No. 6,093,730, disclosed as N-((1-Chloro-4-hydroxyisoquinoline-3-yl)carbonyl)glycine), in 1 ml N,N-dimethylformamide was added 1 ml of 4-methoxybenzenethiol. The solution was heated at 120 to 130° C. in a sealed tube for 72 h. The solution was then concentrated under vacuum. The resultant residue (76 mg) was purified by chromatography on silica gel using a gradient of 0 to 15% methanol in dichloromethane with 0.5% acetic acid to elute the product. 6 mg of product was obtained; MS (+) m/z 385.05 (M+1)
