Procedure
Using General Procedure B: Reaction of 3-aminomethyl-azetidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (Falgueyret, J.-P. et al. J. Med. Chem. 2001, 44, 94-104) in CH2Cl2 with 3-methyl-pyridine-2-carbaldehyde and NaBH(OAc)3 gave 3-{[(3-methyl-pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-amino]-methyl}-azetidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester as a yellow oil. 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ 1.44 (s, 9H), 2.30 (s, 3H), 2.66-2.75 (m, 1H), 2.92 (d, 2H, J=6.0 Hz), 3.61-3.66 (m, 2H), 3.88 (s, 2H), 4.02 (t, 2H, J=9.0 Hz).
