Reaction Steps
1-bromo-2-methoxyethane(5.8 mmol), dimethyl 5-hydroxyisophthalate(5 mL), K2CO3 (6 mmol) in DMF(10 mL) were stirred for 12 h at 60° C., then the solution was poured into water and the aqueous phase was extracted with EtOAc. The organic phase was washed with brine, dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated to give dimethyl 5-(2-methoxyethoxy)isophthalate (93.7%).
