Procedure

A mixture of 2-mercapto-5,6,7,8,9,10-hexahydrocycloocta[d]-pyrimidine-4-ol (1 g; 4.76 mmol) and 10 g of Raney nickel in 40 mL of abs. EtOH was refluxed for 5 hours and filtered. The filtrate was evaporated to give 5,6,7,8,9,10-hexahydrocycloocta[d]-pyrimidine-4-ol as a pale-grey solid (0.66 g; 78% yield).
