4 grams of 2-hydroxy-1,4-anthraquinone synthesized as described above, 20 ml of isopropanol and 12 ml of borontrifluoride etherate were heated at 70° C. overnight, yielding the desired product, 2-isopropoxy-1,4-anthraquinone. After cooling, the solution was filtered, dried, and washed with standard KHSO4. Finally, the product was washed with water and dried at room temperature overnight.
