3.3 g of 3-(2'-chloro-4'-trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenylacetic acid and 1.7 g of methyl α-bromopropionate were dissolved in 30 ml of acetone. Then, to the obtained solution was added 1.4 g of anhydrous potassium carbonate and stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. Then, the reaction mixture was heated under reflux for 30 minutes. After completion of the reaction, the formed solid substance was filtered off and the acetone was distilled off under reduced pressure to obtain 4 g of 1-methoxycarbonylethyl 3-(2'-chloro-4'-trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenylacetate.
