Procedure

The product of step b) was dissolved in dry ethanol (350 ml), treated with 10% Pd/C (0.3 g) and hydrogenated at 35 psi at room temperature until H2 uptake ceased (1.5 hours). The catalyst was filtered off and the filtrate evaporated to dryness.
