In 20 ml of N,N-dimethylformamide was dissolved 2.0 g of methyl 5-(cyclohexen-4-yl)-2-(4-hydroxyphenylaminomethylene)-3-oxo-4-pentenoate, and they were reacted at 140° C. for 4 hours. After completion of the reaction, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure, and to the residue was added 50 ml of dioxane, after which the precipitated crystals were collected by filtration and washed with 30 ml of diethyl ether to obtain 1.4 g of methyl 6-(cyclohexen-4-yl)-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4-oxo-1,4,5,6-tetrahydronicotinate having a melting point of 155°-157° C.
