Reaction Steps
Following the procedure described in Example 42(f), 1.6 g of 5-oxo-6-phthalimido-2-(2-thienyl)perhydro-1,4-thiazepine [prepared as described in step (e) above] was treated with t-butyl bromoacetate to give 1.15 g of the title compound as crystals, melting at 183°-184° C.
