Procedure

A mixture of 7-carbamoyl-3-[4-(4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridin-1-yl)butyl]-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinazoline-2,4-dione (0.15 g), 1N sodium hydroxide solution (5 ml) and ethanol (5 ml) was stirred under reflux for 10 hours. After cooling, 1N hydrochloric acid (6 ml) was added and the precipitated crystals were collected to give 7-carboxy-3-[4-(4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridin-1-yl)butyl]-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinazoline-2,4-dione (0.15 g).
