A mixture of the phenol of Step 4 (3.322 g, 12.3 mmol), K2CO3 (4.08 g, 29.5 mmol) and 2-(bromomethyl)-7-chloroquinoline (3.771 g, 14.7 mmol) in 60 mL of acetone was heated to reflux for 8 h. CD2Cl2 (100 mL) was added and the mixture was filtered through silica with EtOAc. Flash chromatography of the residue on silica using EtOAc:toluene 15:85 and 20:80 afforded 5.145 g (94%) of the title compound.
