A mixture of the isothiourea trihydrochloride from Example 2 (ii) (5.1 g), hydrazine sulphate (1.6 g), potassium hydrogen carbonate (7.0 g) and anhydrous dimethyl formamide (60 ml) was stirred at 70° for 3 hours. Following cooling and filtration the filtrate containing the free base was treated with an excess of ethanolic hydrogen chloride to give the title compound.
