Reaction Steps
A solution of 361 mg. of 5-nitro-2-phenyloxazolo[ 5,4-b]pyridine in 30 ml. of methanol was hydrogenated over 0.2 g. of 5% palladium-on-carbon catalyst. The catalyst was removed by filtration, and the filtrate was concentrated to dryness. The residue was recrystallized from methanol to give 5-amino-2-phenyoxazolo[ 5,4-b]pyridine, m.p. 210° C.
