Procedure

2-Ethylnaphthyl amine is reacted with N-acetyl-2imidazolidinone in the presence of POCl3 to produce the imidazoline intermediate. This intermediate is treated with sodium hydroxide and water to remove the aceto group and yield the name compound (VIII).
