Procedure
3.1 g of 1-[(p-methoxybenzyloxy)-methyl]-8-chloro-6-phenyl-4H-s-triazolo[4,3-a][1,5]benzodiazepin-5-one in 30 ml acetic acid, at 25°, is stirred with 24 ml 48% aqueous hydrobromic acid for 20 minutes. The reaction is neutralized with 30% aqueous sodium hydroxide and extracted with chloroform. The organic phase is separated, washed with water, dried and the solvent evaporated to give the title compound.
