Procedure

A solution of 15.5 g (0.05 mole) of 5-acetamido 6-(2-chloro ethoxy) 4,7dimethoxy benzofuran prepared in the preceding example and 15 g (0.15 mole) of N-methyl piperazine was brought to reflux for 8 hours in 100 ml of toluene. It was filtered and the filtrate evaporated under vacum the residue was taken up again in alcohol and hydrochloric alcohol was added. It was filtered and recrystallized in absolute alcohol.
