Procedure
3.00 ml (12.0 mmole) of a 4N solution of hydrogen chloride in dioxane were added dropwise to a solution of 2.29 g (10.0 mmole) of 4-chloro-3-(3-quinuclidinyloxy)isoxazole (prepared as described in Example 109) in 20 ml of ethanol, whilst cooling at 5° C.; the mixture was then stirred at the same temperature for 10 minutes. At the end of this time, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure, and the solid residue was recrystallized from isopropanol, to give 2.40 g (yield 90.4%) of the title compound as a colorless powder, melting at 235°-238° C. (with decomposition).
