Following a procedure similar to that described in Example 45(d), but using 316 mg of 1-[(2'-t-butoxycarbonylbiphenyl-4-yl)methyl]-2-butyl-4-(1-hydroxypropyl)imidazole-5-carboxamide [prepared as described in step (c) above] and 10 ml of a 4N solution of hydrogen chloride in dioxane, 148 mg of the hydrochloride of the title compound were obtained as an amorphous powder, melting at above 120° C. (with softening).
