Following a procedure similar so that described in Example 45(d), but using 0.58 g of 1-[(2'-t-butoxycarbonylbiphenyl-4-yl)methyl]-2-butyl-4-(1-hydroxybutyl)imidazole-5-carboxamide [prepared as described in step (c) above] and 13 ml of a 4N solution of hydrogen chloride in dioxane, 0.55 g of the hydrochloride of the title compound was obtained as an amorphous powder, melting at above 110° C. (with softening).
