Following a procedure similar to that described in Example 45(d), but using a solution of 0.82 g of 1-[(2'-t-butoxycarbonylbiphenyl-4-yl)methyl]-4-(1-hydroxybutyl)-2-propylimidazole-5-carboxamide [prepared as described in step (c) above] in 17 ml of a 4N solution of hydrogen chloride in dioxane, 0.78 g of the hydrochloride of the title compound was obtained as an amorphous powder, melting at 118°-121° C. (with softening).
