A mixture of 100 mg of the resultant compound of Example 21 and 100 mg of 5% rhodium on carbon in 3 ml of methanol was shaken under 4 atmospheres of H2 for 1 day. The resulting mixture was filtered and concentrated in vacuo. Silica gel chromatography of the residue using 20% ethyl acetate in hexane provided 92 mg (90%) of the desired compound. 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ 0.75-1.90 (br envelope, 28H), 1.44 (s, 18H), 3.30 (br, 1H), 3.63 (m, 2H), 3.72 (m, 1H), 4.41 (br, 1H), 4.66 (br d, 1H). Mass spectrum: (M+H)+ =497.
