Procedure

One and one-quarter grams of (2-bromo-1-acetoxypropyl)phosphonic dichloride is heated with 0.55 g. of finely pulverized P2S5 under nitrogen at 130°C. for three hours. The reaction mixture is fractionally distilled to give threo (2-bromo-1-acetoxypropyl)phosphonothioic dichloride.
