Procedure
9.75 g. (0.0386 moles) of 1-(4'-aminophenyl)-1,4-dihydro-4-methyl-3(2H)-isoquinolinone are reacted, in 80 ml. of glacial acetic acid, with 5.64 g. (0.05 moles) of chloroacetyl chloride, in the presence of 5.06 g. (0.05 moles) of triethylamine. The reaction conditions are the same as described in Example 1. The crude product is recrystallized from butanol to yield 4.9 g. of the title compound; m.p. 238°-239°C.
