A suspension of 2-[3,5-dichloro-4-(5-isopropyl-6-oxo-1,6-dihydro-pyridazin-3-yloxy)-phenyl]-isoindole-1,3-dione (65) (84.5 g, 190.2 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal (250 mL) was heated to reflux for 5 h. At this time, the reaction was cooled to room temperature. The solids that resulted were collected by filtration, washed with a 1:1 mixture of methyl tert-butyl ether:heptane (70 mL) followed by heptane (70 mL) and dried under vacuum to afford 2-[3,5-dichloro-4-(5-isopropyl-1-methyl-6-oxo-1,6-dihydro-pyridazin-3-yloxy)-phenyl]-isoindole-1,3-dione (66) (63.57 g, 73%) as an off-white solid; ES(+)-LRMS for C22H17Cl2N3O4 (M+H)+ at m/z=458. Exact Mass=457.0596; Molecular Weight=458.30.
