A mixture of 2-amino-5-chloroanisole (157 mg, 1 mmol), thiophene-2-sulfonyl chloride (183 mg, 1 mmol), and pyridine (0.25 mL, 3 mmol) in methylene chloride (3 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. The mixture was then partitioned between methylene chloride and water. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated under vacuum to provide 290 mg (96%) of the title compound. MS (ESI) m/e 304 (M+H)+.
