4. 24.07 g of ethyl 5,6-dihydro-6-oxo-4H-imidazo[1,5-a]thieno[2,3-f][1,4]diazepine-3-carboxylate are suspended in 260 ml of toluene and treated with 22.73 g of Lawesson reagent. The mixture is heated to reflux temperature for 1.25 h., then cooled and filtered. The filter cake is dried. 21.78 g of ethyl 5,6-dihydro-6-thioxo-4H-imidazo[1,5-a]thieno[2,3-f][1,4]diazepine-3-carboxylate are obtained.
