4.2 g of 15α-hydroxy-4-methylandrost-4-ene-3,17-dione is acetylated analogously to Example 1(a). Chromatography of the crude product on silica gel with a hexane-ethyl acetate gradient yields 3.9 g of 15α-acetoxy-4-methylandrost-4-ene-3,17-dione.
