2-butyl-3-[(2'-{1H-tetrazol-5-yl}{1,1'-biphenyl}-4-yl)methyl]-3H-thieno[2,3-d]-imidazole-5-carboxylic acid methyl ester (1, A-B-C are --CH=C(CO2CH3)--S--; R6 -E=butyl; R1 =tetrazol-5-yl) prepared as described in Example 5 can be saponified with lithium hydroxide hydrate in THF/H2O (5:1) at room temperature for 24 hours to give the title compound.
