Reaction Steps

A Parr flask was charged with a solution of 14.784 g (65.2 mmol) of the product of step A dissolved in 80 mL ethanol and 0.485 g of 5% rhodium on alumina catalyst was added. The reaction mixture was mounted in a Parr hydrogenation apparatus, pressurized to 40 psig hydrogen and shaken for 30 minutes. The reaction vessel was then removed from the apparatus, the contents were filtered and the flitrate was evaporated and dried in vacuo to afford 14.878 (99%) of the title compound.
