A mixture of 3-chloro-1,2,4-triazole (10.3 g., 0.1 m.) and 1,3-diaminopropane (7.4 g., 0.1 m.) in ethanol containing sodium ethoxide is allowed to stand overnight. The solvent is removed to give 3-(3-aminopropylamino)-1,2,4-triazole and this intermediate is reacted with dimethyl-N-cyanoimidodithiocarbonate and methylamine by the procedure of Exampole 3(d) to give N-cyano-N'-methyl-N"-[3-(3-(1,2,4-triazolyl)amino)propyl]guanidine.
