A solution of ethyl 5-amino-1-(p-chlorophenyl)-1,2,3-triazole-4-carboxylate (10 g) in dry pyridine (50 ml) was refluxed for 6 hrs. and the cooled solution poured into dilute hydrochloric acid. The precipitated solid was filtered off and recrystallised from 90% ethanol to give 10 g (100%) of the rearrangement product of mp 161° C. (lit mp 162° C. Ger Offen No. 2,009,134 [1970]). (Found; C, 49.46; H, 4.31; N, 20.85; C11H11CIN4O2 requires; C, 49.54; H, 4.16; N, 21.01%).
