Reaction Steps
HCl gas was passed through a solution of 5-2 (1.3 g, 3.9 mmol) in EtOAc (25 mL) at 0° C. for 3 min. After stirring at 0° C. for an additional 2 hrs, the reaction mixture was concentrated to give 5-3 as a solid.
