To a stirred solution of the title compound from Step A above (1.94 g, 12.2 mmoles) in anhydrous pyridine (14 mL) at 0° C. was added 4-toluenesulfonyl chloride (2.784 g, 14.6 mmoles) and the mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 2.5 h. The solution was evaporated to dryness and the product was azeotroped with toluene and then taken up in dichloromethane and washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate, filtered and evaporated to give the title compound which was used without purification in the next step.
