Reaction Steps
1-t-Butoxycarbonylmethyl-3-(1-ethoxycarbonyl-3-phenylpropyl)aminoperhydroazonin-2-one (Example 1) is treated with hydrogen chloride in ethanol followed by concentration and partitioning of the residue between aqueous potassium carbonate and ethyl acetate. Drying and concentration of the organic phase affords the title product.
