Benzyl 4-pyridylacetate (Step B, 0.80 g, 3.5 mmol) was reacted with potassium hydride and 1,4-dibromobutane according to the procedures described in Example 33, Step A to afford the title compound. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CD3OD): 8.42 (d, 2H), 7.39 (d, 2H), 7.28 (m, 3 H), 7.19 (m, 2H), 5.06 (s, 2H), 2.62 (m, 2H), 1.97 (m, 2H), 1.74 (m, 4H). LC-MS: m/e 282 (M+H)+ (2.2 min).
