Combine 1-(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoyl)-3-phenyl-3-(2-hydroxyethyl)pyrrolidine (0.5 g, 1.3 mmol), diisopropylethylamine (0.5 mL, 2.9 mmol), and anhydrous dichloromethane (17 mL). Cool to 0° C. using an ice bath. Add methanesulfonyl chloride (201 mg, 1.36 mmol). After 2 hours, dilute the reaction mixture with dichloromethane and extract with a saturated solution of sodium bicarbonate. Dry the organic layer over Na2SO4, filter, and concentrate in vacuo to give the title compound: Rf=0.26 (silica gel, ethyl acetate).
