A solution of the product from step (iii) (785 mg) in acetic acid (5 ml) was added to a suspension of uracil (0.673 g) in acetic acid (25 ml) at 90° C. over 3 min. After 1.5 h the solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue partitioned between ethyl acetate and water. The organic phase was washed with water, dried (MgSO4) and evaporated under reduced pressure. Purification was by chromatography eluting with ethyl acetate.
